Camp Pa-Wa-Pi Staff

Staff members are highly trained and are required to undergo criminal history checks along with drug screenings. Each staff member is certified in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention. In addition, they have quality experience working with children in a group setting.

Staff Bios

Michelle Prinz, Parkwood YMCA Executive Director I obtained my bachelors degree from MSU in Physical Education and Exercise Science and my Master of Public Administration degree from WMU. I’m responsible for daily branch operations, fundraising, and board development at the Parkwood YMCA and Camp Pa-Wa-Pi. In 2006, I was voted YMCA Director of the Year for the state of Michigan by my peers. Favorite Camp Activity: Roasting marshmallows and making s'mores! Favorite Animal: The chimpanzee. They’re so smart! If I could be anyone: I’d be a kid again so I could just play all day with no worries.

Jon Sporer, Camp Director My name is Jon Sporer, and I am the Camp Pa-Wa-Pi Director. I have been working with YMCA campers for many years, here in East Lansing and also in northern Michigan. I graduated from MSU in 2000 with a degree in Kinesiology. I love being outside, especially in the summer! I look forward to meeting all the campers and families who made a great choice to attend YMCA Camp Pa-Wa-Pi. When I am not working, I like to spend time with my beautiful wife, Kelly, and our amazing daughters, Clara and Lucy. Farthest place I’ve traveled: Port Campbell, Australia Favorite Camp Activity: Canoeing and scavenger hunts!
